Community Updates: Pioneers iRacing Stay In Playoff Contention

KCP iRacing Drivers Stay in Playoff Contention

Another back-to-back race week concludes with both Casey Kirwan and Wyatt Tinsley in playoff position. Last week at Nashville Superspeedway, Casey and Wyatt finished 2nd and 11th respectively. However, they were hit with lane violations by race control, and had to start this weeks race at Richmond Speedway, a tough track to pass, from pit road. 

Essentially starting from the back of the field, they navigated their way through several cautions and a packed field to salvage good finishes of 16th and 22nd. Both drivers remain entrenched in the top ten and in the thick of the playoff hunt with Wyatt in 7th, and Casey in 8th. As the season comes to a close, every race and every point is crucial to qualify to the playoffs and have a chance at the Championship. The Pioneers as a team sit in 4th place, only 18 points back of 2nd place currently.

KCP Finals Take 5th in Cycle 3

With a new look roster and team combination heading into Cycle 3, the team put in a solid showing. After qualifying for Top 8 as the 5th seed, that's where the team ended up after taking 5th in Cycle 3. The day started a bit slow in the Cashout groups and got sent to losers bracket after a 3rd place finish.

In lower bracket, they took 3rd once again. The team did avoid elimination, but had to sit and wait until the final qualifier match of the day. The cashout luck turned in our favor, and the boys finished in a close 2nd place, setting up the final qualifier match of the day vs Luminon, who currently sits tied for 1st in points. Unfortunately, the Pioneers fell just shy, losing 2-1 in boxes in the qualifier match. All 3 boxes went the distance with teams trading steals and in the final box, the Pioneers got the wipe and had less than a second left on the steal before time ran out.

The Pioneers currently sit in 6th place in the overall standings, but within striking distance of almost every team with a good performance in Cycle 4. Cycle 4 kicks off on August 15th, and it's the last chance of the regular season to earn points for seeding position before Open and Closed qualifiers for The Grand Major!
